Per a company press release, Callaway Golf Company and five-time major champion Phil Mickelson have extended their partnership that ensures Mickelson will play Callaway equipment for the rest of his career.
Since joining the brand 13 years ago, Mickelson has won 21 PGA Tour titles and four of his five majors with Callaway equipment. The 47-year-old has been playing professionally since 1992 and has 48 career wins. A 2012 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee, Mickelson has won The Masters three times, the PGA Championship and The Open Championship.
“Our long association has been hugely important to my career and this extended agreement is a great honor,” said Mickelson. “We’ve enjoyed close personal and working relationships for 13 years and I’m very grateful that it will continue through my playing days and beyond.”
Mickelson’s representatives at Lagardère Sports negotiated the extension, although terms were not disclosed. He is currently preparing to represent the United States in the Presidents Cup (a series of matches between the United States and an International team that excludes Europe) for the 13th consecutive time. Additionally, he has played in 11 consecutive Ryder Cups (United States against Europe), both American records.
“Phil has meant so much to Callaway and to the game of golf,” said Callaway Golf President and CEO, Chip Brewer. “He is a dynamic athlete and an iconic ambassador. We are excited to continue our relationship with him for years to come.”
