According to Liz Mullen, former NFL player, Barry Gardner, has ventured into the representation industry and started BeGreat Sports, along with longtime business partner Blake Baratz. Together, Gardner and Baratz represent 22 NFL players.

Baratz, who presides over The Institute for Athletes, has worked with Gardner from 2009 up until recently when Gardner left The Institute for Athletes to start his own agency. The duo boasts years of representation experience and has added more talent to their rosters, such as Redskins LB Mason Foster and Rams rookie RB John Kelly.

Gardner’s football career started as a walk-on for Northwestern, and ultimately ending his collegiate career with 468 tackles, from 1994 to 1999. His level of intelligence both on and off the field would earn him two first-team All-Big Ten and three Academic All-Big Ten honors.

The decision to co-create BeGreat with Baratz was a no-brainer. After all, many pro athletes seek services from experienced professionals. Gardner just has a knack for every aspect of football, stating that, “As my passion for this business grew, I knew at some point I would launch my own firm. As a former player, and at the time having been on the representation side for seven years, it was the logical next step in my growth both personally and professionally.”
